When the slab underneath is structurally sound, we resurface over it, which is faster, cleaner, and far less disruptive than a tear-out and re-pour. Ripping out a pool deck or driveway is loud, slow, and expensive. It means jackhammers, a full re-pour, weeks of a torn-up yard, and a hefty disposal bill — often to replace concrete that was structurally fine to begin with. Resurfacing skips all of that. When the base slab is sound, a bonded overlay gives you a brand-new surface, in the color and texture you want, in a fraction of the time.

The Process

How We Install It

An exterior overlay lives outdoors and takes real abuse, so preparation is everything. A finish is only as durable as its bond to the slab beneath it, and that bond is made in the prep.

1. Assessment. We evaluate the slab for soundness, drainage, and any cracking or movement, then confirm resurfacing is the right path before we quote it.
2. Surface preparation. The existing concrete is thoroughly cleaned and profiled so the overlay grips permanently. Cracks and low spots are addressed as part of the prep.
3. Priming. A bonding primer ties the new overlay to the old slab, the step that separates a lasting finish from one that lifts.
4. Overlay application. The system is built and finished by hand — the Sabbia quartz worked smooth and comfortable, or the Strada broom finish laid clean and even for traction.
5. Color. Color is integral to the system, chosen with you to complement the house, hardscape, and landscape rather than fight them.
6. Sealing. A protective sealer locks in color and defends against UV, pool chemicals, and salt. We match the sealer and its sheen to the surface and how you use it.
7. Return to service. Cure times vary by system and weather, and we give you a clear schedule for foot traffic and vehicle traffic before we start.

Should I resurface or replace my concrete?

If the slab is structurally sound, resurfacing is almost always the better call. Can you resurface a driveway?

Yes. Driveways are usually a Strada job, our Structural Broom Finish, because it is traffic-rated and built to carry vehicle weight while giving you clean curb appeal. Sabbia can also be installed on a driveway when you want the quartz look and it suits the property. We walk the surface with you and recommend the right system for how the space is actually used.

How does resurfacing hold up to road salt and freeze-thaw?

Both systems are made for the outdoors. They flex with freeze-thaw movement and are unaffected by the deicers and road salt that come with a Tennessee winter. Sealed and maintained normally, a resurfaced deck or driveway holds its color and finish for years of everyday exposure.
