How We Work
A decorative finish lands at the end of the job, in full view, with nowhere to hide a mistake. You already know that. Here is what we do about it.
Lafayette Mecham walks the space with you, specifies the finish, chooses the hands that install it, and stands at the walk-through when it is done. One name on the work and one number to call, from the first conversation to the final seal.
On the job
Same-business-day response, every business day. We hold the date we gave you, and when something moves on your end we work around it. Scope is priced in writing before anything starts, changes go through written change orders, and the final invoice matches the number you approved.
We protect finished work, contain our dust, and leave the space clean every evening. Your client is often living in the house or walking it weekly. How the site looks at five o'clock is part of how they judge you.
Your drawings, your palette
When there is a designer or architect on the project, we build to their specification. We work to the specified color and adjust it against the stone, cabinetry, or siding it has to live with. If a detail will not perform the way it is drawn, you hear it from us early, while it is still a revision and not a demolition.
The Finishes
Five systems. Lafayette specifies which one the job calls for and selects the hands that install it.
Velluto and Aria — interior microcement
A floor with no grout line in it. Walls, showers, countertops, and fireplaces reading as one continuous surface, a few millimeters thick, laid over what is already there. Velluto is hand-troweled, with movement and depth worked into the surface. Aria is sprayed, for a floor that reads the same from the entry to the far wall. On a renovation it takes an entire tile scope off your schedule — the demolition, the subfloor, the grout, and the week they occupy. See interior microcement.
Sabbia and Strada — exterior resurfacing
Sabbia is our Architectural Quartz overlay. Smooth enough for bare feet at the pool, sure-footed when the deck is wet, and durable enough to take a driveway. Strada is a structural broom finish that returns to service fast and reads clean at the curb — the right answer when Sabbia is more finish than the job needs. Both go over a sound slab, which turns a replacement line item into a resurfacing one. See exterior resurfacing.
Rinnova — stamped resurfacing
Stamped concrete from 2004 sitting against a house you just finished renovating. Rinnova brings the hardscape current without a jackhammer touching it. See stamped resurfacing.
Patina — staining and sealing
Color worked into existing concrete and sealed for daily use. One to two days on a basement floor, a garage, a patio, a porch. See staining and sealing.
New decorative flatwork
When the slab is past saving, we handle the removal and the new pour — stamped, washed exposed aggregate, and broom finishes specified to the house rather than to whatever the truck brought. See concrete construction.
The First One Is Usually Small
Most of our trade relationships started with a Patina job — a basement floor, a garage, a back patio. One or two days, and enough of a scope to see how we communicate, how we schedule, and how we leave a site.

Spec support before you price the job
Walk a set of plans or a space with us and we will spec the finish before you put a number in front of your client. That covers which system fits, where a simpler option is the right answer, and what the substrate will realistically allow. We can join the design meeting if it moves the conversation.
Credentials and coverage
Mecham Decorative Concrete LLC has been finishing decorative concrete in Middle Tennessee since 2017 and is licensed, insured, and bonded in the State of Tennessee. Certificates of insurance are available on request, naming your entity as needed for the project file.
